  • Poor nutrition is the most common cause for damaged hair. Vitamin deficiency and poor intake of proteins are responsible for damaged hair. Nowadays, people choose junk food instead of healthy nutritious food and pay the price for the same over the period of years by losing their natural beauty.
  • Use of hair accessories such as tight hairpins and bands may weaken the hair strands when used for a long period of time.
  • Brushing hair frequently with low quality hair brush may damage your hair.
  • Swimming in saltwater or chlorinated water leads to damaged hair resulting in dry and brittle hair.

  • Avoid long exposure to the sun. Cover your head while in the sun. Wearing hat will reduce the extent of damage.
  • Avoid chemical treatment or hot styling techniques as much as possible.
  • Use mild shampoo and conditioner for your hair.
  • Apply egg white to the roots of the hair. Keep it for one hour and wash it with a mild shampoo.
  • Massage your scalp with castor oil at least once a week. Keep it for one hour or if possible overnight and wash your hair next day.
  • Have a healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals. Eat lots of fresh vegetables, fruits and pulses. Include nuts like walnuts and almonds and also lean meat in your diet which are a good source of proteins and vitamins.
    Take vitamins and mineral supplements after consulting your doctor.
  • Soak fenugreek seeds for four hours in warm water and make a paste. Apply this paste to the roots of the hair. Leave it for one hour before rinsing your hair. Fenugreek seeds impart shine and make your hair soft and supple.
